Picture warm sand under your feet, the steady rush of waves, salt on your lips, and the sea breeze cooling the back of your neck as the afternoon light softens.

This guide helps you choose the stretch of shoreline that suits your kind of day, whether that is swimming, a sunset pause or an easy walk.

What's on the list:

  • Bãi Sau: for a day organised around the beach area
  • Bãi Trước: for waterfront atmosphere and a later-day pause
  • Bãi Dâu: for a different coastal perspective
  • Choose by the activity, then by the name

How we picked:

  • A researched shortlist built from the official and operator sources linked at the end; it is not a report of a personal visit.
  • We do not list prices or opening hours, which change; check with the operator before you go.
  • Facts checked against the linked sources on 20 October 2026.

A beach name does not tell you whether it suits swimming, a sunset pause or an easy walk. Vũng Tàu has several familiar stretches of coast, and the right choice depends on the purpose of the outing. This shortlist uses the national tourism authority's coastal overview and published hotel-area information. It is not a current water-quality or lifeguard assessment, and we have not inspected conditions on the shore. “Best” means a practical fit for the activity described. Use local warnings, staff guidance and the conditions you find on the day when deciding whether to enter the water.

Address note: since 1 July 2025 the former Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province has been part of Hồ Chí Minh City, so newer maps and booking pages may list Vũng Tàu addresses under Hồ Chí Minh City. (source: National Assembly Resolution 202/2025/QH15)

Bãi Sau: for a day organised around the beach area

Back Beach, Bãi Sau or Thùy Vân, is the clearest starting point when you want your accommodation and day to revolve around a broad beachfront area. The national tourism account places it on the southeastern side of the peninsula. Choose a convenient arrival point and establish where you can sit, change and find a bathroom before committing to a long stay. A beach-area hotel can reduce transfers, but being near sand does not answer questions about current sea conditions. Ask about designated swimming areas and follow the instructions in place rather than interpreting a calm photograph as a safety assessment.

Bãi Trước: for waterfront atmosphere and a later-day pause

Front Beach, Bãi Trước, is a useful choice when the shoreline is part of an urban outing rather than the whole day. The national tourism authority highlights its west-facing sunset appeal. Treat that as a geographic advantage, not a promise that the sky will perform on schedule. Plan a waterfront pause with time to sit or walk, and keep a nearby alternative if weather changes. It can pair naturally with an interest in the area's cultural landmarks. You do not need to enter the water for a coastal stop to feel like a proper seaside experience.

Bãi Dâu: for a different coastal perspective

Bãi Dâu appears in the national account as another shoreline with rocky features. It can appeal to visitors who want to look at the shape of the coast rather than repeat the same broad-beach view. Approach rocks and edges cautiously and respect access restrictions. Do not use a general description of calm water as permission to swim or climb. If you are travelling with children or someone who needs a predictable surface, decide whether the actual arrival area suits them before leaving the vehicle. The best viewpoint is the one the whole group can use comfortably.

Choose by the activity, then by the name

For a sand-focused day, begin by checking the current services and access around your chosen stretch of Bãi Sau. For a shorter city-and-coast outing, investigate Bãi Trước. For a change of scenery, consider Bãi Dâu with realistic expectations about surfaces and facilities. This is not a ranking of cleanliness or quietness; those were not independently checked. Weekend crowds, construction and weather can change the experience substantially. A short reconnaissance on arrival is more useful than defending a decision made from one attractive image online.

Put comfort and a return into the plan

Decide where belongings will stay, how you will protect yourself from sun and where you can take a break away from the shore. Keep transport home simple, especially if someone becomes tired or conditions change. If you buy or hire a beach service, confirm the full charge and what it includes before using it. Do not leave that conversation until the end. Bring a way to carry litter out and avoid disturbing people using the area for their own day. A thoughtful beach visit leaves the shore no worse than you found it.

Make room for an ordinary sea day

The sea may be grey, the light flat or the beach busier than expected. You can still have a good outing by adjusting the activity: a shorter walk, a meal or a return at another time. Record which access point and facilities worked for your group so the next visit is easier to plan. No admission, rental or hotel price is quoted here because current costs were not verified. The best beach choice is the shoreline that matches your actual day and whose conditions you are willing to reassess when you arrive.
